SMD Suppression Capacitors 1X/Y2 & X2

PROSPERITY DIELECTRIC CO., LTD. (PDC) presents the expansion of its new safety-certified ceramic SMD capacitors of the FH and FK series. These safety capacitors were developed for immunity to overvoltages or lightning strikes and to suppress interferencies.

The capacitors of the FK series correspond to safety class X1/Y2 and the capacitors of the FH series are class X2 compliant. They are certified according to the international standards EN/IEC 60384-14: 2013 and have been tested with pulses up to 6kV.

Capacitance values from 3pF to 4.7nF are available as X1/Y2 (C0G/X7R) in sizes 1808 to 2220. A maximum capacitance of 22nF is offered as X2.

Of course, the capacitors are RoHS3 compliant & halogen-free and are made from environmentally friendly materials without using lead or cadmium.

The outer electrodes are lead-free, tinned over a nickel barrier layer and the ceramic material is optionally coated with an insulating layer to prevent electrical flashovers. PDC also offers the SMD components with a flexible (Soft - Flexterm - Anti Bending) electrode. Here the SMD capacitor withstand a bending strength of ≥3mm instead of ≥1mm.

These capacitors are used in the input of power supplies or between the primary and secondary side of switching power supplies. With the SMD design, these capacitors save space and can contribute to further miniaturization. By means of reflow soldering, these safety capacitors in surfacemount technology can replace its wired relatives and possibly provide for a complete SMD production of the entire application.
