Lithium Ion Capacitor +105°C
A new 100 Farad lithium-ion capacitor, for the first time with a working temperature range of up to +105°C, presents TAIYO YUDEN with the LIC1840RH3R8107 in the size 18x40mm.
This capacitor now complements the existing LITHOSION product range of lithium-ion capacitors from TAIYO YUDEN, which are already available in the range of 20, 40, 100 and 270 Farads, in the sizes of Ø10x30, 12.5x35, 18x40 & 25x40mm.
All capacitors are specified with 3.8V upper working voltage and 2.2V lower working voltage. A voltage derating must be taken into account when exceeding 70/85°C. The max. upper working voltage should then be 3.5V.
Lithium-ion capacitors (LiC or LiCap for short) are generally characterized by a small ESR and an extremely small leakage current.
The leakage current measured in an external laboratory is e.g. at only 35nA @ +50°C, measured on the 40 Farad cell over a period of 317 days.
The target applications are for short and long-term solo energy storage as well as in connection (parallel connection) with a lithium ion battery (e.g. Lithium Thionyl Chloride System Li-SOCl2), then as an energy supplier for short-term higher energy requirements e.g. for transmission impulses.
The extremely small leakage current also makes applications such as energy harvesting interesting. The Li-ion capacitor can also be charged with a few microamperes slowly, and its small ESR means that fast discharges are also possible afterwards.
In our own component preparation, we can also process lithium ion capacitors to customer specifications. From simply cutting the wires to length, angling them to the horizontal assembly, right up to assembly a lot is possible with cables and connectors.
When processing, it is important to ensure that the capacitor must not be short-circuited. That's why we, from wittig Electronic have few Board mounting various solutions ready.
