New pulse-resistant high-temperature SMD resistor
With the HSG73P series, KOA is offering an SMD resistor for the first time that combines pulse resistance and high-temperature properties. The resistors are available in SMD designs 0402 to 1206 and allow ambient temperatures of up to +200°C. The rated power is 0.2 W in the 0402 and 0.75 W in the 1206.
The components have very good pulse strengths and are comparable with the KOA SG73P series. The pulse strengths are approx. 7 times higher than those of conventional standard thick-film resistors. A load of 270W for 10µs is specified for size 1206.
This is made possible by a special trimming of the resistor layer, which also enables higher continuous power. This means that existing designs can be ‘ramped up’: An HSG73P resistor can be placed on the pads of a similarly sized conventional component, increasing performance without changing the PCB layout.
The HSG73P series also fulfils the requirements of AEC-Q200 and has been tested accordingly.
